What are the steps involved in customer-designed packaging?

I. Consultation

You will need to provide detailed information, such as the product itself, dimensions, product type , core needs , target audience, etc. Based on 10 years of industry experience, we will recommend the most suitable box type for you.

For example, cross-border merchants prioritize corrugated boxes and folding boxes for convenient shipping ; gift merchants recommend tote boxes for easier customer handling; and clothing merchants often use book-shaped boxes for their good sealing and sophisticated look. If you are still unsure about box details, we can customize samples according to your needs, allowing you to see the box details more clearly.

II. Quotation

Once the box design is finalized , we move on to the quotation stage. We will calculate the price based on the selected box type, process requirements, paper material, and quantity. The choice of packaging process directly affects the price. Processes such as hot stamping, silver stamping, UV coating, embossing, and matte finish can bring different visual and tactile experiences, and the corresponding costs also vary. The grade and thickness of the paper are also important factors affecting the price. High-quality paper often enhances the packaging’s texture, but the cost is relatively higher.

It’s worth noting the relationship between quantity and unit price; generally, the larger the quantity, the lower the unit price. Clients need to clearly define their budget and specific requirements, and we will then refine the plan based on this information, providing a detailed quotation that includes material costs, printing costs, production costs, mold costs, and logistics costs .

III. Design

We are a custom packaging manufacturer, so we only provide structural design, specifically the following two options :

Option 1 : You provide the design files in AI, PDF, or PSD formats, with a resolution of 300dpi and CMYK color mode. Once both parties confirm that everything is correct, we can start making a sample.

Option Two: Our designers will create custom packaging renderings based on your brand logo, color scheme, materials, and patterns. There will be 2-3 free design revisions until you approve the final draft. We will provide an electronic sample to confirm that the text, images, and layout are correct.

IV. Proofing

Before starting the sampling process, we will confirm the design draft with the client again. Once the requirements are clear, both parties will jointly select the face paper and process, calculate the final cost, and arrange sampling after the quotation is agreed upon. During this process, the service provider can provide typesetting assistance. After the sample is completed, it will be sent to the client by express for physical confirmation. If the client is not satisfied with the sample’s material, process, appearance, etc., they can promptly raise adjustment suggestions until the sample meets expectations.

V. Printing

Once the sample is confirmed to be correct, the printing process begins. Printing is the core step in transforming the design into physical packaging and must strictly adhere to the confirmed sample standards. If the packaging involves critical processes such as printing or hot stamping, the service provider must arrange a sample viewing time with the client in advance. Mass printing will only proceed after the client confirms the process effects to avoid affecting the overall quality due to process deviations.

During the printing process, the service provider will precisely control the color reproduction, pattern clarity, and process details to ensure that the printing effect of each batch is consistent with the sample, providing qualified basic materials for subsequent production and assembly.

VI. Production and Assembly

After printing is completed, the production and assembly phase begins. We have a mature production process and will carry out production according to the quantity, quality standards, and timelines stipulated in the contract. Throughout the production process, we will maintain constant communication with our clients and send you production photos in real time, allowing you to stay informed about the progress.

very strict control over the precision of the process and the quality . Before shipment , we will conduct a comprehensive inspection of the size, splicing firmness, and appearance defects of the packaging boxes to ensure that every finished product meets the requirements. This ensures that while production efficiency is high, the quality of each packaging box also meets the standards .

VII. Transportation

Once production and assembly are complete and have passed inspection, we will arrange for a professional transportation company to select the appropriate logistics method based on the quantity, size, and delivery address of the packaging. This ensures the packaging boxes are undamaged during transport and delivered to you on time. At this point, the entire customized packaging process is complete, and you can simply wait to receive your goods. After delivery, we will also follow up to confirm receipt and satisfaction.

The above is the standard packaging customization process. If you need customized packaging, please contact JS Packaging immediately, and we will transform your ideas into practical solutions that enhance brand value!
